I. Course
Description:
This course introduces the
concepts of computer networks. It covers basic design considerations for
LANS/WANS, protocols, performance issues, security, and popular commercial
communication packages.
II. Course
Objectives:
Upon the successful completion
of this course, the student will:
Have
a functional understanding of Local Area Networking (LAN), and a practical
knowledge of hardware, software, file management, and administration skills.
III. Instructional

IV. Teaching
Strategies:
The course will be conducted
with lectures and seminar format based on the text, and exercises.

VII. Roles
and Policies:
Homework: Homework is assigned as per the instructions at each
class and will be collected as per the dates indicated on this syllabus.
Honor
Code: Strayer University’s policy
concerning student conduct (e.g. plagiarism) will be used.
Make-Up
Policy: Make-up exams will not be
given except for extreme circumstances, prior arrangements should be made at
least 2 weeks in advance.
Late
Work Policy: Late assignments will
not be accepted.
Attendance
Policy: Instructor
will mark any student who arrives more than one hour late for class or departs
early without the instructor’s permission as absent on the attendance roster.
To change the “A” to a “P”, the student must explain to the campus dean in
writing why he or she arrived over an hour late or departed early.
